For those sweaty summer festival days; with the scent of grass, fast food and fake tan in the air. We all know the struggles when it comes to keeping our festival face looking flawless. That’s why I’m here to fill you in on all the necessary tips and tricks to ensure your unique look endures a long hot day dancing under the sun and stars.

Step 1: Prime Time

Never forget to prime! “What’s a primer?” You ask. Well my friend it’s your essential tool in makeup staying power. A primer is a product which you apply underneath your foundation. whether you choose a powder or liquid foundation, primer is essential in providing a base for your makeup to stick to. It forms a barrier between your skin and foundation and prevents blotching and fading.

Step 2: Serious Foundation

By serious foundation I mean a seriously tough foundation. I understand that many people opt for lighter, natural-looking foundations for festival season but if you want your face to stay put I highly recommend a heavy-duty, long-lasting formula. All foundations are created differently to fulfill different purposes. Choose a full-coverage liquid foundation that boasts its power to remain flawless all day long.

Step 3: Set That Face in Place

Setting your foundation with a powder is an absolute must for sweaty summer weather (if you choose a liquid foundation). A pressed powder mattifies your foundation which stops it from becoming oily throughout the day and practically sliding off your face. If you have already opted for a powder foundation simply skip this step.

Step 4: Cream Eye Shadow

Choose a cream eye shadow formula as opposed to powders. You can create a quick and effective eye look by simply using your finger to blend a cream eye shadow, in a colour of your choice, over the lid. Cream eye shadows do not crease as easily on the eye and last a lot longer. It is also helpful to utilize a cream shadow as a base for powder eye shadows. They act as a primer for your eye shadow, allow eye shadow to stick easily to the lid and stop the shadow from creasing.

Step 4: Waterproof that Bitch

Eyeliner and mascara must be waterproof. Yes sweat is practically water so therefore your mascara and eyeliner needs to be able to endure anything wet that comes its way. This may also include thrown water bottles in the mosh and the occasional crowed hose that may be encountered.

Step 5: Spray it Down

Lastly but definitely not leastly, get yourself a setting spray! These babies will set your completed look in place. The moisture and ingredients of a setting spray bind your makeup together, just like adding eggs to the flower in a cake mixture (a bad analogy, I know). Tip: ensure your mascara has dried before spritzing over your entire face.
