Holy shit you guys, Captain America: Civil War is the best, it's the god damned best! It's so much fun with fantastic choreographed fight sequences, well established characters and a solid enough plot to take you through to the end without double-taking on the logic. This film confirms that the Captain America series is the best of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The same team that brought you Winter Soldier are back with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely penning the script based on the comic by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Joe and Anthony Russo are back in the director's chairs with Chris Evans back as Steve Rogers (Cap), Scar Jo as Black Widow, Anthony Mackie as Falcon and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.
It is such a huge case that you'd be forgiven for thinking this was another Avengers film because everyone is in this thing except Hulk and Thor.
Civil War continues the brilliant political thriller that was Captain America: Winter Soldier and follows up with what Aliens was to Alien. Civil War is the roller-coaster ride that explores the political ramifications of being unstoppable superheroes.
The story is really good but I'll be vague so you get the gist of it. Basically Cap and his gang of superhero buddies (Black Widow, Scarlett Witch and Falcon) are in Lagos trying to stop a terrorist bent on no good. In the process they accidentally kill innocent people. Now, if this was the DC universe that would be a non-issue and they would get on with being humourless, but this is the MCU, so it's a huge friggin' deal.

And that's the probably the biggest difference between the two franchises: Marvel has a heart while DC tries burying it under grimy seriousness. Anyway, back to the plot:
Meanwhile Tony Stark is confronted with the reality that their superhero actions have killed innocent people and he can't continue living with blood on his hands. So after the incident in Lagos, the UN asks the Avengers to sign some accords that give them oversight instead of allowing them free reign of the planet.

Stark is all in because he agrees that the Avengers shouldn't do what they want and should be held accountable. However, Cap's not feeling it, arguing that the UN could force the Avengers to do missions they don't feel are right.
Uh oh, the conflict between Stark and Cap grows when Bucky AKA The Winter Soldier is involved in a major assassination. This conflict escalates to the holy Jeebus amazing fight sequence between the two superhero sides at an airport. Even without that glorious spectacle the whole film is held up by the legitimate arguments of both sides; I even picked a side as the tagline asks. In a world where superheroes are running amok this story makes so much sense.
Everyone shines in their roles, Chris Evans is ever reliable as the Cap and RDJ is loquacious as ever. I only really had a problem with Jeremy Renner but that's more to do with him as a person than his performance. Even the new superheroes are great including Spider-man, who I hope they won't do another origin story for when his film comes out. Chadwick Boseman was good as Black Panther but he really didn't get to do much, I also can't wait for his stand-alone film.
After the film I had some questions about the real antagonist and how they were able to acquire the information they knew but it's such a minor thing it didn't get in the way of the fun. Because this film is so much fun, have I said that yet? There is just so much fun to be had with this film, I'm still smiling as I write this. And you know what? I could do this all day.
