DIY FELT DECORATIONS

These little felt decorations are a cute and easy addition to make for hanging around your room/house. Little sets would be a great gift idea too. I’ve left the measurements up to you.

You will need:

  • felt (colour of your choice- we went with 1. red and 2. brown)

  • buttons (I used white but gold, silver or any colour look great too!)

  • needle and thread

  • short ribbon pieces

  • stuffing

Christmas DIY

How to:

  • Cut two red felt squares of the same size.

  • Cut two brown felt hearts to your desired size. Once cut, sit them on top of your red squares to make sure you’re happy with the size of them.

  • Start by working with one side. Place one heart on one red square and get them into place.

  • Sew a button onto the middle of the heart. This will secure your pieces together loosely.

  • Then stitch around the heart, starting from the back of the red square so you won’t see the loose thread when it’s finished.

  • Repeat steps 4 and 5 with the remaining square, heart and button.

Now we are going to sew the decoration together.

  • Line up both the sides, making sure the heart/button side is facing outwards.

  • Stitch around the left, bottom and right side.

  • Carefully hold or pin your ribbon into the top of the decoration so that it has a loop that it can be hung from (have the cut ends of the ribbon inside your little cushion decoration).

  • Continue stitching and just before you finish, push in your desired amount of stuffing then stitch up and tie the thread off in a knot or two.

Of course you can mix up your design by switching the colours or keeping them flat without stuffing. Get creative!

If you're ever feeling crafty and take on one of our DIYS, we'd love to see the result. Email a photo to daisy_magazine@hotmail.com and if you like, share how easy/difficult you felt it was (never miss an opportunity for a pun).

Happy crafting!
